Do it Right!

On 30th April 2012 the MPF launched their “Do it Right” campaign aimed at all four of the federated ranks within the MPS. We the Met IBB fully endorse this campaign and as such we urge our members to support the campaign’s objectives and in doing so support officers working alongside you when they choose to do it right! It has long been appreciated that the Police Service depends heavily on the goodwill of officers to make it work. This goodwill often extends to the implicit acceptance that Police Regulations and SOP’s are disregarded in order to get the job done. Save and Protect is the public face of the MPF DO IT RIGHT! Campaign. This is our message to the public. The Federated ranks of the Metropolitan Police Service need all of the communities of London to help us SAVE AND PROTECT the finest police service in the world. Please lend your support to us. This Government is intent on imposing it’s ideology of policing on the communities of the UK, without consultation with our stakeholders, you the British public. Policing is under an unprecedented attack by this Government that will have major consequences on public safety and policing as we know it. Letter to Home Secretary from Gen Sec of PFEW re Increase in contribution rates to the Police Pension Scheme

On 10 April 2012, Ian Rennie, General Secretary of the PFEW sent the following letter to the Home Secretary regarding the introduction on 1st April 2012 of increased contributions by police officers to their pension schemes to12.25% for most of our members in the Inspecting ranks.  He outlines the detrimental impact that this increase will have on all members and risks of opt-out due to this.
