The Metropolitan Inspectors Branch Board expects it's representatives to;

Attend all Branch Board meetings. There are four each year, the dates of which for 2008 are available by clicking here. These meetings are our primary means of communication with our membership and are key to our organisational success. Reps have a statutory right to attend these meetings & should preserve the dates with their duties planners.

Participate in the meetings

Represent your electorate

Reps need to have the confidence to engage with local management to resolve problems at the earliest opportunity. They must seek to establish a relationship whereby it is acknowledged and appreciated that the views expressed are not necessarily those of the rep but of his/her membership or the person they are representing. Conflicts of interest are rare but on those occasions where it is possible that impartiality might be an issue alternative representation from off the OCU will be sourced by the Branch Board officials.

Act as a conduit for information to flow between members & the officers of the Board.

The structure of the PFEW and it's constitution means that it relies heaviliy on Local reps  in order to effectively communicate with it's membership. If this key position is occupied by an individual who fails to facilitate that flow of information everyone but most significantly the membership will be much the poorer.

Basic training in the role will be offered to everyone appointed and more comprehensive training in specialist subject areas such as Misconduct representation, Equality and Health & Safety is available to those who are active in these fields.

The role is challenging but also immensely rewarding so if you are a Chief Inspector or Inspector attached to any of these commands and would like to fill a vacancy then please contact the General Secretary Mark Crake asap
