| Private members debate on police pay- 9th Jan
Yesterday afternoon a Private members debate between MP's from across the political spectrum took place in Westminster Hall. At the conclusion of the debate the Police Minister, Tony McNulty, attempts to answer, non-too convincingly I might add, some of the points raised by the contributers. The debate as a whole was an extremely successful means of raising and challenging a number of the arguments used by the government to support it's public sector pay policy and explaining the reasons for our campaign for fair pay. The video link recording of the debate is pasted below for your infomation and enjoyment but please note that it does last one & three quarter hours. If you have any problems viewing this – the debate video is also be available on the Hansard website. Notwithstanding the length of the debate, the content of the video does illustrate and confirm that both the PFEW and its members have been successful in getting our message across to those that represent us in Parliament and you may find that watching it is time well spent as a useful means of updating yourself on the current status of the dispute. For your information it is John McDonnell, the Labour MP for Hayes & Harlington was the MP who secured the debate and it is he who opens it. http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/VideoPlayer.aspx?meetingId=723 << back |
