Judicial Review - update 21st May

The two day Judicial Review hearing on police pay ended on Wednesday 16th April. You will I am sure  have seen some of the coverage of the Staff Side evidence that was given  in the national newspapers immediately following the hearing.

With time to prepare, both sides presented strong well argued cases.

We are told by those present that it is impossible to read the thoughts and views of the two judges who presided over events from the direction of their questions, as they raised many queries for both sides.

You may recall that the judge who granted us the review  Lord Justice Collins was also due to be one of those hearing the case. He had indicated that we could expect to get a decision within a matter of days.

However entirely unexpectedly, Lord Justice Collins was unavailable to sit which meant the hearing took plave with Lord Justice Keene in the hot seat.

At the conclusion of the hearing Lord Justice Keene explained that he understood the urgency of the decision but could not commit to the same short timescale promised by LJ Collins.

We have been told today (21st May) that the result will not now be known until the 10th June.
