Mark joined the MPS in 1981 and served on E K & H districts before being promoted to the rank of Inspector in 1997. His first posting was to Edmonton where he became the Inspectors rep a role he continued in after his move to Bethnal Green. Mark became Vice chairman of the IBB in 2002 before in 2004 being elected to his current role.
Mark is of Anglo-Spanish descent and has throughout his career sought to strengthen links both within this country and in Spain with the Spanish community. His dual heritage has directly impacted upon his Federation work as his particular area of interest lies within equality representation. He is also adept at Health & Safety work, for which he holds the NEBOSH general certificate. He recently became a mediator trained by ACAS in workforce mediation
Mark is more than happy to travel out from Bromley to meet and speak with a group of members. So if you would like Mark to attend, perhaps one of your Inspectors meetings, speak with your own rep who will arrange it. In the time he has been in post Mark has undertaken a modernisation of the way in which the IBB does business paying due regard to the need for joint working but placing particular emphasis on Inspecting issues. Improving communication throughout all levels of the Branch Board has been a common theme within his tenure to date and his work to ensure that all OCU's have a rep and that they attend our meetings has already born fruit.
To support these representatives Mark has also committed the Board to improving their training, preparation and support networks. Mark can be contacted at the
